Calstock Village Hall
This project involved the development of the much loved Calstock Village Hall. Originally constructed by local volunteers in the 1980s, the hall needed to be updated to meet the needs of the community today. Funding was obtained by the Hall Committee from The Good Growth Fund to undertake a community consultation and feasibility study to understand the needs of the village, and the opportunities possible.
Planning approval, attained in 2023, included conversion of the roof space into meeting rooms and studio space. The ground floor has been rearranged to create a small second hall that can be let independently of the main hall. The bar has moved to enable a better stage layout for gigs, and there is a new entrance and visual connection to the hall and the village green. Hall access has been improved and there is a room that could provide shop and post office facilities.
Birch ply cladding and celestory windows create an intimate second hall space, acoustically separated from the main hall and ideal for smaller groups or meetings.
