Ambient light in living room at Sakyikrom
Every home has the potential to work better for the people who live in it. Whether adapting an existing property, extending a family home or creating a new house, successful residential architecture begins with understanding how people want to live and how a building can support that.
Tamar Architecture specialises in residential architecture across Cornwall, Devon and the Tamar Valley. We work with homeowners to transform existing properties, design house extensions, remodel internal layouts and develop new homes that respond to their setting.
Many projects begin with a building that no longer meets the needs of its occupants. Rooms may be poorly connected, circulation awkward, views underused or energy performance inadequate. Through careful analysis and collaborative design, we help clients unlock the potential of their homes, creating spaces that are more practical, comfortable and enjoyable to live in.
Our experience includes:
House extensions
Home remodelling
Renovation projects
New-build homes
Barn conversions
Rural residential developments
Planning applications
Building Regulations approval
We believe good residential architecture should enhance everyday life while responding sensitively to its surroundings. Whether working on a contemporary extension, the renovation of a rural property or a new home in the Cornish countryside, our aim is to create buildings that are thoughtful, sustainable and built to last.
Our Approach
Every project starts with a conversation. We take time to understand the site, the building and the aspirations of the people who will use it. From initial feasibility studies through planning and construction, we provide clear advice and practical support at every stage.
If you are considering a house extension, renovation or new home in Cornwall or Devon, Tamar Architecture can help you explore the opportunities for your project.
